Dunes Learning Center is seeking an experienced development professional with existing relationships, knowledge of local funders, and an ability to hit the ground running. Reporting to the executive director, the Director of Development works with the external relations team and development committee to plan, support and execute the organization’s fund development activities.

Interpretive Naturalist
nterpretive Naturalists are key members of the program staff at DLC.  They instruct children and adults regarding the diversity of ecosystems, plants and animals, and cultural history of the INDU and southern Lake Michigan region while developing naturalist, outdoor education, and resource interpretation skills and techniques. Required Qualifications: 

  • Must have a BA/BS by June 5, 2017
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and hike several miles over hilly dunes terrain while carrying a 25-lb backpack 
  • Great independent worker and team player
  • Official government identification

Summer Camp Counselor
Summer Camp Counselors are members of the program staff at the DLC. They supervise summer camp residents while developing their outdoor education and resource interpretation skills and techniques.  Summer Camp Counselors are an integral part of the program, being positive role models for our campers. Required Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in an Associate or BA/BS academic program
  • Enthusiastic about working with children in an outdoor setting
  • Great independent worker and team player
  • Official government identification
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and hike several miles over hilly dunes terrain while carrying a 25-lb backpack

Kitchen Worker (Part-time)
Under the general supervision of the Food and Facilities Director, the Kitchen Worker is responsible for the preparation of meals, routine kitchen duties, cleaning of kitchen and equipment. In addition, they are expected to be service orientated to insure safe, healthy and enjoyable meals.

Part Time Shuttle Bus Driver
Under the general supervision of the Admissions Director, the Bus Driver has the primary responsibility for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the children, staff and volunteers during bus transportation to and from Dunes Learning Center or the Indiana Dunes National Parks Service headquarters building and assigned trips.
