Why are native plants important? Dr. Spencer Cortwright and Angel Gochee-Goins will offer information for beginners as well as more experienced gardeners. Covering habitat assessment, specific plant recommendations, planting techniques, and more, you’ll come away with tools to create or improve your backyard habitat.
This program is in partnership with the Friends of Indiana Dunes, who be offering their 25th Annual Native Plant Sale in April.
The 25th Annual Friends of Indiana Dunes’ Native Plant Sale will be held as an Order Only Sale with curbside pick up of ordered plants on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

An avid gardener, Angel Gochee-Goins is a longtime Friends of Indiana Dunes board member and national park volunteer. She retired in 2019 from Indiana University Northwest, where she was the Biology Lab Supervisor for 37 years.
Dr. Spencer Cortwright teaches ecology, zoology, restoration ecology and other courses at Indiana University Northwest. He has extensive experience in animal ecology, but more recently has focused on restoration ecology -- restoring open spaces, such as the tallgrass prairie adjacent to campus.
